make a play for it

Uncover the strings of your heart and soul.

I found out a few months ago that the one tune I can barely play on the piano is called Heart and Soul. It’s a lovely song with even lovelier lyrics I’ll leave to your discovery. I’ve had lessons when I was younger and a couple relatives that can play the instrument, but I do not remember exactly who taught me the song. It got me thinking though, about the many things we learn throughout our lives and what we commit our hearts and souls to.

During this time of mandatory solitude, many of us have tapped into our gifts and talents that we have kept hidden for one reason or another. The world shutting down allowed us time to connect with our Creator on a spiritual level and forced us to reflect and rest - whether or not we wanted to.

Last year, our “busy” lives stopped. Schedules were cancelled and trips were postponed. Although we continue to experience distractions in the form of mainstream and social media, politics and current events, we can continue the momentum of true self-discovery with an active pulse on what connects to our hearts and souls. ■
