un-neutrally grey

Grey is considered “unfeeling”, yet it conveys so much emotion.

Grey lies somewhere between black and white - a color without color. It has been the homeless hue we seem to only embrace when we need to exude respectability without showing personality. For me, I find that I gravitate to it, when I’m in my feelings. Not necessarily sad, which some will presume. Or depressed. But happy, sad, mad, glad - all of it!

It is a stand alone color. It holds it own, but we often use it as an ‘accent’ or throw some other heavy color over it. We don’t let speak for itself. Our association to it as being neutral takes away its personality and what it can do to make us look more than just safe.

When skies are grey, we perceive a lack of light and shine. We think…..’rain’ must be on the horizon. Grey makes us stop to appreciate what we believe we no longer have (light and shine), but want in that moment. It produces waves of thoughts and ideas. Sure, it is not flashy like red or cool like blue, but it brings out a deepness that just seems so un-neutral.
